A sustainable future with GREEN CONCRETE

A first for SQI: Synergy uses glass concrete

Synergy is proud to be involved in the first construction project in the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI) real estate portfolio to use glass concrete, an innovative and more environmentally-friendly material. This technological breakthrough is being deployed on the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital parking deck site, a concrete step towards more sustainable construction.

But what is glass concrete?

This concrete uses glass powder as a cementitious additive, replacing part of the cement. The glass used comes from post-industrial residues (such as broken or unused glass) recovered locally, usually within 100 km of a concrete plant. This simple, ingenious gesture recycles residual materials while reducing the site’s environmental footprint.

A major asset: reducing greenhouse gases

Thanks to this innovation, the project reduced concrete-related CO₂ emissions by 24%. A substantial saving that illustrates the extent to which every gesture counts in the ecological transition of the construction sector.

Synergy commits to a greener future
This exemplary project demonstrates that combining expertise can drive industry forward. Thanks to our valued business partners for their trust and collaboration: SQI, CISSS de Lanaudière, Béton Provincial, Pompage de Béton TPG Ltée and EBC inc.
